It's time for trailblazing leadership! Aloha, I’m Lorien Acquintas, but most people know me as Lolo. I am running for the West Maui County Council seat because as a born and raised Hawaiian, a father, and business owner I know all too well the current struggles of my fellow neighbors, our local Maui residents. I intend to apply my experience into fiscally responsible representation that puts the needs of our local community first and foremost. We need to see Maui restored to a place where families can prosper and thrive. A place where we feel safe and secure. A place where our public safety and education sectors are compensated fairly. A Maui where our keiki can grow old. My goal is to be a true voice of the people because I am one of the people. West Maui deserves to be represented by, myself, someone who has fresh insights and is not beholden to anyone. I lost my home and both of my businesses in the August 8th fires. However, I am blessed because my family is safe. But I know what it’s like to feel despair. To lose everything you’ve worked hard for in an instant. I never sat idly by but instead worked harder than ever to provide for my family and employees. I want to apply that tenacity in restoring hope to Lahaina and all of Maui County. We have much to look forward to. With endings comes opportunities for glorious new beginnings.

Responsible tourism is a set of practices that aim to minimize the negative impacts of tourism on the environment, society, and economy of a destination, while maximizing the benefits for local communities. It's about making tourism a force for good, creating better places for people to live and visit.Â
